"The warrior exists in order to defend and protect those who cannot protect
themselves. But before a true warrior can conquer and destroy his outer
enemies, he must first do battle and conquer his own inner weakness. When
this inner battle has been won, the laurel of kingship is offered to the
warrior by the woman reflected in the water. This "Lady of the Lake" is the
feminine, receptive element in the warrior's own psyche, and it reflects the
balance and great humility displayed by a true king and leader. The piece is
meant to capture that moment of enlightenment or epiphany when the warrior
looks up in rapture and awe at the approach of the goddess."
